I was a quitter.

Hi, my name is Sun.

I'm the founder of Night Owls, a digital agency in NYC. Many of our clients are personal brands like Jay Shetty, Mel Robbins, Gabby Bernstein, Baron Baptiste, Marc Randolph, the list goes on...

But before starting Night Owls, I was a quitter.

I quit starting a business.

I quit going go to the gym.

I quit waking up early.

I quit saving money.

Here's what usually happens...

I get back from a seminar or watch GaryVee scream on YouTube, and my motivation's at 1,000%.

For weeks, I work on my business.

I start to wake up early.

But after a couple months I start to feel hopeless

I still have zero clients.

My friends are out having fun.

So I give up.

My life goes into a standstill, then slowly into a decline.

A year later I go to another seminar and then...

You get the point.

It's especially hard when none of your friends are entrepreneurs.

After awhile I stopped telling people because I felt pathetic for quitting so many times. 🙈

Are you saying to yourself: "OMG, me too! I do that. 🙋‍♂️"

Well keep reading.

There's an old African proverb that goes "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together."

Take a look at CrossFit, SoulCycle, Running Clubs...

These are some of the hardest activites you can do, yet they all keep going because they're there for the community first, and workout second.

This is exactly what happened when I started Night Owls.

The environment is what kept me going. We struggled together, we inspired each other, and we had a blast.

Because we're just having fun everyday, we stay consistent. This helps us improve our skills at an exponential rate.

It's common for one of our interns to start their own agency in 2-3 years.

So what was different about the environment?

How did we improve so fast?

How did we stay so consistent?

After some reverse engineering, I narrowed it down to 2 main reasons:

1: The Culture

Every job I've had, all people did was complain about their job. "They're not paying me enough for this shit" they'd say.

At Night Owls, people actually put love and care into their work. It was refreshing to see for the first time.

We have passionate debates about ideas and collaborate on projects.

The designers challenge the developers with designs that are impossible to code.

In return, the developers will make it possible and inspire the designers to push the limits.

When a new employee starts, they're quickly mesmerised by the culture. The passion for their job grows out of that.

That's what you get by just being around another Night Owl.

We're not here to complain.

We're here to share the love for what we do.

2: The A-ha Moments

People actually like to learn.

Most people don't need hand-holding throughout every step of their learning.

They can learn 95% on their own on the Internet.

The problem happens when they get stuck.

They just need a little a-ha moment once in a while.

That's exactly what I'm here for

Just by being in the same room with me, I was able to provide that.
