Chris Do Called Me Out About Myth Sandwich

I was on his podcast last year talking about my Myth Sandwich™ story framework when I told him about one of my carousels.

He asked:

“How’s that a story?”

No one had ever asked me that before.

And honestly?

I agreed with him.

My carousels aren’t really stories. 😅

But for years, people kept telling me, “You’re such a great storyteller!”

So I was like… “Fuck it! I guess I’m a storyteller now.”

The thing is… I actually suck at storytelling.

I use filler words like “you know” and “like” all the time.

I wander off topic.

I mispronounce words.

I stop halfway mid-sentence.

And I always end with “I don’t know where I was going with that…”

My writing isn’t much better.

My grammar’s wrong.

My vocabulary is basically like a 4th grader.

And it doesn’t sound very eloquent.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you KNOW this is true.

So why did Domestika pay me an advance to create a storytelling course and why did 34k people buy it?

I’m NOT good at storytelling.

But I’m GREAT at reverse engineering.

I’ve broken it down to 3 meta-skills:

1. Awareness​
Noticing everyday situations you can turn into stories.

2. Pattern recognition​
Seeing how one situation is an analogy to another situation.

3. Critical thinking​
Being able to see both sides: the myth and the truth.

That’s what all my “stories” really are.

They’re just analogies of everyday situations that debunk myths people believe.

You don’t need to be creative to become a great storyteller.
You don’t even need to be good in English.

You need to train how to think different.
That’s how you tell different stories.
