What do I do when I feel stuck?
Short answerWhen you feel stuck, keep working through it instead of waiting for inspiration or switching plans.
Push Through the Block
- Lock yourself in a room and keep working on the thing until you see a small glimpse of something.
- Designer's block and writer's block are bullshit, Sun says; they are excuses.
- One little piece leads to another, and soon you are in a zone and know how it will play out.
Take Action, Not More Learning
- The only way to beat stuck feelings is through action, even something small like writing one email.
- Once you start working, the overthinking and anxiety disappear.
- Don't change plans too fast; let momentum build even when it feels like nothing is working.
In Sun's words
If you've attended at least nine small group meetings, you're at the run stage. Now I need you to kill your darlings. Go word by word. Cut anything you added for your own ego — name drops, brags, words you used to sound smart. And then look at your hook like a stranger scrolling past. Would it stop you? Does it make you curious enough to keep going?
