How do I find my niche?
Short answerYou can't find your niche by thinking about it. You find it by doing the work and letting other people tell you what you're known for.
Stop Searching, Start Doing
- Trying to pick your niche before you start is like finding a dot in the dark: you will always guess wrong first.
- Put content out first; the niche comes later, not before.
- Your niche shows up as you keep doing the work, not from planning it.
Let Others Tell You
- You are the worst person to pick your own niche; other people see it better than you do.
- Look at what your friends and family already say you are good at and what they come to you for.
- Start with what you are already an expert in, not what you wish you were known for.
In Sun's words
I hear a lot of people say 'you are the niche' and you don't need to niche down. But every single person who says that already has a big brand. The way they got there was by starting with one niche first, getting known in it, and then expanding. Here's the mistake I see. Someone is a lawyer, they hate it, they quit, and they start making content about manifesting or meditation. That's starting from zero. But if they just made content as a lawyer — something they're already credible in — they'd grow so much faster. Your personality, your values, your passion — all of that comes out through the content anyway. But the niche gets you known first. Once you're known, then you become the niche. Until then, start with what you're the expert in.
